I absolutely love discovering new places in London, especially those which require me to eat. So when I saw images of 5 layered cakes slathered in buttercream from a place called “Cutter & Squidge” floating around my Instagram feed, I was drawn in from the word go and knew I had to go check it out.
Cutter & Squidge is a cute little cake shop located in Soho, not too far from Carnaby Street. Not only do they have rows of incredible looking cakes of all different flavours, but they also specialise in Biskee’s. What is a Biskee, I hear you say? Well a Biskie in the words of Cutter & Squidge is a fresh, unique handmade sandwiched dessert. A creation of biscuit/cookie/cake filled with their special lightened buttercream, handmade jams, caramels and other delights! I must admit it was the first time I’d ever come across something like that but anything that describes itself as a combination of a biscuit, cookie and cake is my idea of heaven. My 3 favourite bakes rolled into one- result! From Peanut Caramel Smore and Banofee through to Matcha & Raspberry and Black Forest, they honestly do have every flavour under the sun.
Not only are their desserts extremely Instagram worthy but all of their cakes are vegetarian friendly and made with no artificial flavourings or colour.
They also have a cute eat in section towards the back of the shop which is airy, bright and quaint. With it being located right bang in heart of London, I can see myself popping back here to try the endless flavours of cakes and to devour their homemade ice cream. It is for sure going to be my favourite post dinner destination.
And if you’re thinking, “but surely you’ll be consuming a days’ worth of calories in one sitting”, just remember, in the words of Cutter & Squidge and one that is embedded into my brain, “Life’s Too Short, Eat Dessert First”.
I follow these guys on Instagram and cannot wait to get over there in person to try some!!
